The optimized mobile client for web-based project management

TrailGuide provides mobile access to your Basecamp projects through an optimized mobile application and secure web server. With TrailGuide, the Basecamp experience has been adapted for efficiency on the phone, so you can see more of the most important things on screen quickly and easily.

Overview

The Basecamp Dashboard and Overview sections give you the "big picture" of what's going on in your projects and with your clients. TrailGuide captures the most important elements of these sections in its main Overview screen.

Quickly zero in on what's late, what's due and what's fresh. Selecting any of the items from this screen takes you directly to more detail for that information, including who's logged in and other account information.

Multiple Projects

TrailGuide lets you filter information by project so you can easily see all the items for a given project without having to navigate a mobile web page designed for the desktop. All the non-archived projects that you are allowed to see on the Basecamp website will be available to you on your Smartphone.

When you want to see if there's any new activity in any of your projects, just select Check Projects in TrailGuide. Any projects that have been updated will be shown in yellow. Select the project and download the all the latest changes quickly and easily for instant viewing - whether you have a data connection or not.

What's Fresh

The What's Fresh view shows a log of recent activity for a given project. Simply select any item to jump to its detail and see more information or to make a comment. Items in the TrailGuide What's Fresh section are shown with the most recent activity at the top, which makes it a snap to see the latest changes on the small screen of the Smartphone.

Messages

Most projects create lots and lots of email. Messages can often get lost among overflowing inboxes, and responses can come in and lose their context. Basecamp solves this problem by using a centralized messaging board and TrailGuide brings it to your Smartphone.

See all your messages and all the comments that have been made. The most recent comments are shown at the top of the screen, eliminating the need to scroll. Add your own comments or create new messages. With TrailGuide, you'll stay in the loop even when you're away from your desk.

To-Do Lists

Basecamp has a very simple yet very flexible to-do list manager that lets you add new lists and items and assign responsibility for each. TrailGuide lets you mark items complete, add or edit list items or create new lists. Easily scroll through items and mark them done with just one hand using the 5-way navigator or scroll wheel on the Smartphone.

To-Do list management has never been easier on your phone, and best of all, when you mark off items on your phone, everyone on your Basecamp project sees the changes when they log in.

Milestones

Basecamp milestones are any items that have a due date. They track the important elements: what is it, when is it due and who is responsible. TrailGuide shows milestones in the same fashion as Basecamp on the web, color coding items as late, upcoming and completed. You can even create new Milestones right on your phone.

Files

Basecamp lets you collect images and documents and notes descriptions of each item. TrailGuide shows the name and size and even allows you to download the files to your phone for viewing or to attach to an email message.

How It Works

TrailGuide uses a server to communicate between the mobile client application on your phone and your Basecamp data. The purpose of the server is to efficiently retrieve your Basecamp data based on your account information that you provide in the mobile client. The server then processes the data into an optimized format that makes for a better experience on the phone.

The TrailGuide Server interacts with Basecamp using the secure Basecamp API that is provided for this type of access to your projects.

Throughout the process, all communication between the TrailGuide client and the TrailGuide server - and between our server and Basecamp - is done via SSL security (the same level of security that online banks use).

None of your data, account information or passwords is permanently stored on our server. It simply acts as a go-between when TrailGuide posts new information that you have entered on the phone to Basecamp, or updates your phone with new changes others have made on the web.
